Currently, Matthew is mostly known as the drummer for Canadian country artist Chad Brownlee (Universal Music). Chad has enjoyed multiple Canadian radio hits, and is a perennial CCMA Male Vocalist of the Year nominee, as well as Fan’s Choice nominee. In August of 2018 Chad will release his 20th Canadian single, and is one of Canada’s most recognizable country stars headlining fairs, festivals, and concerts across Canada.
Matthew is also well known for his work drumming with Canadian indie band Lion Bear Fox. LBF are a trio of singer/songwriters with two full length, critically acclaimed albums under their belt, and a third to be released in early 2019. The last couple of years have seen an explosion of opportunities for this group, including performances across Canada, and Denmark.
Over the years Matthew has been fortunate and is proud to have worked with many great artists and musicians. He has played alongside or recorded with a diverse assortment spanning from the great Canadian classic artists like Tommy Hunter and Valdy, to some of today’s top contemporary Canadian acts like Brett Kissel and Gord Bamford. Although best known in the country music scene, Matthew is equally at home playing R&B, soul, pop, and jazz.
As a well educated player, Matthew has been the choice for many awards show house bands, backing dozens of highly recognizable artists. As well, Matthew has been part of recording sessions for Canada Film Board, World Games (opening and closing ceremonies), various jingles, Jubilations dinner theatres of Canada, and national television broadcasts.
